Whenever I look for granola at the grocery store I struggle to find one with a low sugar content, and when I do like the look of the nutritional information it is always one of the most expensive available. In an effort to save money and eat healthy I have decided to start making my own homemade granola, best part is my husband loves the recipe so he eats it too.
Here’s my favorite homemade granola – let me know in the comments what you think!
4 – 5 cups of Oatmeal
1 C. Flaxseed
1 C. Sliced Almonds
1 C. Sunflower Seeds
1/2 C Agave Nectar (maple syrup/honey)
1/2 C. Vegetable Oil (or canola)
1/2 t salt
1 T Vanilla Extract
2 C. Dried Fruit
The How To Part
Preheat oven to 250 degrees
Combine the oatmeal, flaxseed, almonds and sunflower seeds in a bowl.
Combine the agave, vegetable oil, salt and vanilla extract in a separate bowl.
Pour the agave mixture over the oat mixture and mix until everything is coated.
Spread out the granola on a baking sheet and bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
Once cool, combine the granola and fruit.
